CarsXE publishes a comprehensive REST API documented at carsxe.com/docs covering VIN and license plate decode (50+ countries), market value (retail, trade-in, auction estimates), vehicle history (title events, salvage, insurance records), vehicle images, safety recalls, lien and theft records, plate and VIN OCR, and OBD-II diagnostic code decoding. An API key is obtained by signing up at the site. CarsXE also offers an official hosted MCP server at mcp.carsxe.com/mcp, documented with quickstart guides at carsxe.com/docs/integrations/mcp-quickstart. The MCP server is listed on major MCP marketplaces (MCP.so, MCP Market, Glama.ai, etc.) and works with Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and any MCP-compatible client. Setup requires a CarsXE API key passed via the X-API-Key header.
